for everyone
Vienna, capital of Austria and one of the places on my must-go travel list in Europe. We were lucky to have found zero price tickets for adults on German Wings, thus we were basically jus paying for taxes which come up to Euro 160 for whole family for the weekend. I wish we could spend more time there but we were restricted with Kah Keng's schedule as well as the limited travel time with Junrui on tow. So, what we did was to go to a few main highlights of the city.

Despite the short trip, this is still a large album cos there are simply too many beautiful things to capture here in Vienna. From the St. Stephan's Cathedral to the Donau River on Sat and the Schoenbrunn Palace to Hofburg on Sun. I think I could have taken more pictures if not for the storm we had across Europe during this weekend. What we experienced here (strong winds and drizzle) in Vienna is mild as compared to some other parts in Germany.

There is an interesting place recommended by our Australian pals, Gaye that we visited but photos not allowed. And that is the Catacombs, below the St. Stephan's Cathedral. It's where the coffins and tombs of cardinals and royalty are placed and it consists of the vaults of bones stacked up in various rooms beneath the cathedral too. These belonged to 11,000 people tossed into the mass graves found below the cathedral during the Black Plague. For me, I find it intriguing to come so close to the dead. Luckily JR slept thr' during the whole walk which made it slightly easier for us to tour ard the tunnels by pushing or carrying his pram. For those interested, I found photos of the Catacombs from the below link: http://www.pbase.com/cryptkeyper/austria

I also particularly like the gardens of the Schoenbrunn Palace as well, unfortunately the Maze and Labyrinth are not open during winter. We had no clue why it's not open till Kahkeng noticed that all the trees in the garden look bare. Thus, how to play in a maze with bare plants during winter? ; ) Think I'll go crazy with the camera if I come in Spring or Summer.

This time round, I have placed more subtitles in the pictures in this album. View and read on!

well, the airline has those offers once in a while and we happen to see it on the first or second day. I wanted to see the Vienna boys sing but unfortunately they don't allow children below 4-5 years old into their concert halls. i wish i can go in different seasons, but i still have other places on my must-go list to fulfill.... ; p
